Any Help Will Do.

Greets! The Monday before Thanksgiving, my dog started experiencing seizures... I've had to use my emergency card to take care of her, vet visits, tests and according to the vet... The next step is medication. So, looking for help money wise, just to get my emergency card available again. (any will help immensely) to pay off the bit of debt I've had to acquire. I've been out of work due to arthritis (I've had arthritis 20 years. Yes, diagnosed young. Something to do with a disease on both sides of the family can cause it in children.)   My dog apparently suffers from idiopathic epilepsy (as that is what it is if they can't find a cause and so far they've got nothing) but unfortunately, it seems like epilepsy in dog is not uncommon. Which is why, any will help. One dollar will mean as much to me as 1000.  I have other debt, but that was acquired during a bad relationship/trying to keep up with bills so he wouldn't be so angry. I could elaborate but I don't want sympathy, and in all honesty, the fact I was there and remained so long was my own stupidity. The only thing I want is for the emergency card (which is my one and only credit card.) to be cleared (about 600 now.) so if a need arises for it to be used it can be. I have no children, I avoided the irresponsibility of oopsies with common sense. Plus with the arthritis, it wouldn't have been fair to a kid, not being able to go play and have fun with them. So that's it. I used my emergency card to help my dog that means the world to me, and need a bit of help in paying it. Nothing fancy, nothing sappy, just straight up facts.  If you help, know that the appreciation I will feel will be beyond measure and as soon as I am able, I'll be pestering you to pay you back. (I don't like to owe, and I like to repay kindness, as well as pass it on.)  Remember, one dollar will mean as much as all the money in the world. I don't need much. Nor do I expect it. Thank you for reading, whoever you are. (I'm really uncertain about how to use this site, but I hope I'm doing it right...)

About Dancehalldr

I am a truck driver that was injured on the job in Arkansas. The worker's comp here is real bad. I had a head injury and they sent me to a doctor that does botox on women. She said there was not a thing wrong with me. Right! Well I went to the ss office on 6/20/08 and they called me about 7/6/08 and said I will get my check with back pay by 8/1/08 and I did get my first SSDI check on 8/1/08. But there was not a thing wrong with me. Right! Most people have to get a lawyer and fight 2 to 3 years to get SSDI. Well the reason I'm on here is I have to wait 24 months for Medicare to get my medical paid for. Well my pills cost more than I get on SSDI and plus the doctor I need help. Anything you can do to help with doctor $85 a month and my meds $900 a month. Thank you and God Bless You. Gary & Sissy(my dog)

Desperate need of shelter / employment / New Information to Report

I was recently asked to leave the home of my girlfriend because she met another man online with whom she decided to live with in her home. I desperately need temporary shelter for myself and my dog Kira, while I search for work. Would require approximately 6 weeks of shelter, and I can do odd jobs around the house to assist. I was a machinist mate in the Navy, and I am quite handy. Location not too important but should be near a town or city so I can find work. I have extensive experience as both a line cook, & a customer service representative. Please Help!!! email me direct at  Jim_Clare@ny-yankees.net And thank you in advance for your help. Many shelters have told me they will not help with my dog, but I have had her for 3 years, and I WILL NOT ABANDON HER. She is all I have left. Thank you for your understanding and taking time to read this. Sincerely, James

New events have transpired to the tune of my finding an employer who will hire me, and I have managed to find a hotel that can take me with my dog. The hotel will charge me $200 per week so I am in a position of needing $400 two pay for two weeks until I would receive my first paycheck. I implore any who can help, I have done all the legwork I can here, and it all comes down to $400 to secure at least my immediate future. I would be more than happy to make a payback arrangement for anyone who can help me out here. I am at my wits end here, with nobody left to ask except you kind people. Please help save at least one lost soul and his best canine friend.

Sincerely & Hopefully,

James

My name is Shelly and I am not someone to ask for money or donations... but I feel I have exhausted all leads to help my mother replace her dentures. Mom is 66 and has been disabled since 1979.  She had to have all her teeth pulled in her early 20's and has worn dentures ever since. Mom's dentures is now 40 years old and needs to be replaced. Her bottom plate has begun to crack in the front at the center. She has become extremely self-conscious of the problem and rarely smiles anymore. Mom has always been full of laughs and big grins. Now she either hides her mouth when she smiles or she just don't smile. The crack is affecting how and what she eats. Mom use to be able to eat/bite anything, now she eats a lot of soft foods and junk foods because it hurts for her to bite down on solid foods. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. We will accept cash or dental services or any other means of help. Thank you.

Save Levi

With Love From Levi

Levi is suffering with seizures and has been strongly advised to have a CAT scan and spinal fluid tap to find the cause.

First things first: Hello!  My name is Carol and I am writing for my 2 year old puppy, Levi.  I saw him in a pet store window when he was five months old (the oldest puppy there)- a mix of Lord only knows and he stole my heart with his bright blue eyes and bounds of energy.  He is my first dog and I can honestly say I had no idea what I was getting into.  (Does anybody really?!)  He's been patient with me though, and he has taught me about truly selfless love.

How it started: In October last year Levi had his first seizure.  After seeing the vet I was told that it may be the only one he ever has and was sent home.  In November he had the second.  That one was over thirty minutes of back to back legs thrashing, lips curled over teeth, buckets of drool pouring out of his mouth, followed by very heavy breathing technically called Grand Mal seizures.  He was immediately put on an anti-seizure drug, Phenobarbital, with regular check ups.  In December he had another, and another on January 1st.

The last weekend in January he had 9 grand mal seizures in three days.  I took him to the emergency vet clinic Sunday night but didn't have the 800 dollars they were going to charge for me to leave him there over night for medicine and care.  I took him home then to the vet on Monday and was sent home with a higher dose of Phenobarbital.  Tuesday morning when I was getting ready for work in the morning I noticed facial ticks and body shakes - what is medically called Petit Mal seizures.  I took him to the vet again - in the 7 minute ride to the vet he had two in the car and waiting to see the vet he had countless more.  He was put on Potassium Bromide as a supplement to the Phenobarbital as well as Diazepam - or Valium.  They convinced me to keep him overnight.  The next day I called an animal neurologist and made an appointment.  It was at that appointment 3 days later that I found out my dog had not only been misdiagnosed as Epileptic but was also taking medicine that was toxic to him.

He still needs tests to find out what the cause of the seizures are, but thankfully he is taking seizure medicine that is not toxic for him.  The tests that need to be run are between 2 and 3 thousand dollars.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Friday July 29th: As an update Levi was doing much better for aproximately a month and a half but the seizures have returned and the need to get levi the test is increasing.  The money that has been generously donated thorough pop cans as well as monetary donations has been instramental in getting Levi his daily medicine and frequent follow-up tests he needs to check his blood and Potassiam Bromide levels.

Levi had another seizure this morning and the test that the money is being raised for would scan his brain and spine to see if the cause can be found there.  The neurologist believes this will answer the big question as to what is causing these seizures.

Community caring: I am 25 and just starting out at my first 9 to 5 job.  I have spent everything I had saved and have run out of funds.  That doesn't mean that I have run out of hope or willpower to do everything I can for Levi.  I mentioned at work that I was thinking of a bake sale and I was given the idea for a can/bottle drive.  That same day I was given 66 dollars in cans to return from employees at the market research company I work for.  The next day an anonymous donor put 150 dollars on my account at the vet neurologist I was going to see on Saturday.  I have posted well over 700 fliers on doors in and around the neighborhood I live in and was given over 800 dollars in both can/bottle donations and money with encouraging notes and letters (one of notes mentioned this website to check out).  I am so appreciative for each and every thoughtful word and donation!

What more could I ask: If you are looking at this website because of a flier I put on your door, thank you.  Any amount of cans or bottles helps a great deal!  As an update - I have been out posting fliers for Levi four weekends.  The last time I was out - in mid-may was the best weekend yet.  It is so encouraging to see the gap between the cost and the total amount raised get smaller.

Monetary contributions are, of course, welcome and necessary to get Levi the help he needs.  The neurosurgeon said the CAT scan and Spinal Fluid Tap will cost anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 dollars.  The animal hospital has an account there, if you would like to donate directly to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services, "OVRS", please call them at 248-334-6877.  I believe you will need to know my name, Carol Denton, and please mention that the donation is for Levi.  I also have a PO box for anyone who would like to make a contribution through US mail.  The address is:

Carol Denton - PO Box 1033 - Union Lake, MI 48387

Kind words of encouragement or suggestions on other money raising ideas would also be welcome and very helpful. Feel free to contact me through US mail or email me at helplevi@hotmail.com

Hope: I know the road ahead is a long one, but with faith and a lot of work Levi and I will both make it out at the end, stronger, happier, and much more healthy.
